Introduction

Protel 99SE is a classic PCB design software released by Protel Technology in 1999, one of the most influential versions in the Protel series. The tool integrates schematic design, PCB layout, auto-routing, and simulation functions, supporting 32-bit Windows platforms with a complete EDA solution. Core features include: hierarchical schematic design, intelligent auto-router, 3D PCB preview, extensive library management, and support for multiple output formats (Gerber, drill files, etc.). Protel 99SE was widely used in education, electronics design, and small-to-medium enterprises, serving as an entry tool for many electronics engineers. The tool is currently discontinued and has been replaced by Altium Designer, but remains in use in some legacy projects.
